• D.A.R. State Forest: Popular spot for swimming, boating, and fishing on Upper Highland Lake and 15 miles of trails. 52 campsites. 1,700 acres.
• Granville State Forest: Offers camping, fishing, hiking, biking, horseback riding and 22 campsites. 2,397 acres.
• Jug End State Reservation and Wildlife Management: Offers hiking, hunting, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing in one of the most scenic areas in Berkshire County. 1,158 acres.
• Kenneth Dubuque Memorial State Forest: Offers fishing and boating plus miles of hiking, horseback riding, and snowmobiling trails. 7,822 acres.
• Mass. Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR): Massachusetts State Forests and Parks for listings of public parks, campgrounds, trails, beaches, and other recreation/education activities.

• Mt. Everett State Reservation: Known for its spectacular scenery and breathtaking views. Offers fishing, canoeing, hiking, and cross-country skiing. 1,356 acres.
• Mt. Greylock State Reservation: Mt. Greylock roads, war memorial, and lodge are expected to be open in 2009. Mt. Greylock Visitors Center is open along with trails for hiking and mountain biking. Campers must backpack into the campground and bring water. 12,500 acres.
• Mt. Washington State Forest: Known for its spectacular scenery and views. Offers fishing and 30 miles of trails. 4,169 acres.
• Natural Bridge State Park: This scenic quarry features a rushing brook and steep gorge plus the only marble dam in North America. Offers fishing and hiking. 47 acres.
• October Mountain State Forest: At 16,627 acres October Mountain is the largest state forest in Massachusetts. Great for hiking, fishing, and canoeing. 46 campsites and 3 yurts are open from mid-May to mid-October.
• Pittsfield State Forest: Surrounded by streams, waterfalls, and flowering shrubs, 31 campsites. 10,000 acres.
• Sandisfield State Forest (York Lake): Six lakes are located within the forest. York Lake is popular for swimming, picnicking, and boating. 7,785 acres.
• Savoy Mountain State Forest: Two ponds offer places to fish, swim, and canoe. There are miles of great trails and Tannery Falls. 45 campsites open from mid-May to mid-October and 4 year-round cabins. 11,118 acres.
• Tolland State Forest: Popular for swimming, boating, and fishing on Otis Reservoir and miles of hiking trails. 92 campsites 10,305 acres.
• Wahconah Falls State Park: Offers scenic views of Wahconah Falls. Popular for picnicking, fishing, and hiking. 104 acres.
