This is icon summer. Really. James Taylor, Brian Wilson, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Earth Wind and Fire, John Williams, B-52s, Chick Corea….and now…..Dolly Parton.
Legendary country music star Dolly Parton makes her Tanglewood debut with a season-opening performance Friday, June 17, at 7 p.m. in the Koussevitzky Music Shed, joining the Tanglewood 2016 Popular Artist line-up. The most honored female country performer of all time, The iconic and irrepressible Parton has contributed countless treasures to the world of music entertainment, penning classic songs such as “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and her mega-hit “I Will Always Love You,” garnering 7 Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, and much more.
Tickets go on sale on April 4th at 10 am! There are a lot of special VIP packages available, including photographs with Dolly and a tour of her wardrobe!
Short of that, a brief tutorial on Tanglewood: There are 18,000 tickets available. Six thousand are covered “Shed” tickets, up to $149.00. 12,000 are “Lawn” tickets which are unreserved and are just $27.00. Don’t worry that you cannot see from the Lawn. The lawn has large screens so that everyone can see what is happening on stage.
We still have open rooms at Hampton Terrace! The June 17-20 weekend will be HUGE in the area. Dolly on Friday night. Earth Wind and Fire on Saturday night. And Brian Wilson performing his historic album, Pet Sounds, on Sunday afternoon. Make it a long weekend!
