In 1979, while on our honeymoon, my wife Susan was plucked out of a hotel lobby to star in a Coca Cola commercial. It began, “We interrupt winter to bring you summer….”
The opening scene was a forelorn girl, filmed in black and while, peering out of a window, watching the snow fall.
And then POW!!!…bright blue water and sky…. a girl in a peach bathing suit rising out of the water in slow motion…..eyes open and big smile….water splashing: That’s Susan.
And as I stare out of a Hampton Terrace window, looking at four feet of snow on the ground, with more falling…. temperatures projected to be BELOW ZERO four of the next six nights, I am reminded of…
“We Interrupt Winter to Bring You Summer:
Tanglewood. Jacob’s Pillow. Shakespeare & Company. Berkshire Theatre Group, Williamstown Theater Festival. Barrington Stage Company. The Mount. Ventfort Hall. Chesterwood. Norman Rockwell Museum. The Clark Art Institute. MassMoca. Berkshire Museum. Lenox. Stockbridge. Great Barrington. Mount Greylock. Stockbridge Bowl. Otis Reservoir. Canyon Ranch. Kripalu. Shopping. Hiking….
Several years ago, the Berkshire Visitors Bureau used a slogan, “The Berkshires: Summer Camp for Adults.”
That is so appropriate that I wish they still used it. Says it all.
So when is the best time to plan a summer trip to Lenox? Sunday through Thursday! That is when you can save 30% at Hampton Terrace! We reduce all of our main house and carriage house rooms to $229/night and our king suites to $299/night with a multiple night stay. A savings of $70-$76/night.
